WILL ANY OTHER SOCIETY NOT HAVING AN OPEN SHOW THIS YEAR PLEASE LET SUE KNOW

The AAGB Members Weekend is shown as going ahead on the March Newsletter on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th April. This has now been canceled there is a new provisional date which is October 2-3 to be confirmed

With regrets STAMP AS have decided to cancel 2021 SHOW/AUCTION. The reasons were simple. To bring together 100-200 people from different parts of Britain in a single room & staying 6feet apart is inpossible. As there will be no kitchen, people bring their own food, take off their mask to eat, it would only take one to cough to cause worry. To expect runners to go close to people with fish &collect money every few minutes is stupid. Most organisers are in their 70s or more,do they not count. It will take all year to get all British people vaccinated (66,000,000) at the moment less than a third have had their FIRST.We care about our friends &want to keep them .
Please understand & stay safe
Regards Bede

Ryedale Aquarist Society are also not having an Open Show this year because they also are very concerned for the safety of their members and any one coming to their show

Ashby
Aquarist Society are also not having an Open Show this year because they do not feel that their venue is no large enough to have a safe show and also because they do not want their members or any comming to their show catching covid

It is with deepest regret that we have to announce the death of DENNIS FRYER.
Dennis died on the 24 January was a Chairman of Halifax Aquarist Society he was well known in the fishkeeping world will be sadly missed

Otley Aquarists Society is a small friendly club; we meet on the Second Monday every month at 8pm. for details phone 01274 531418

At the moment there are fifteen members who attend each meeting where we have either a film show or a lecture and where any problems can be discussed. Many's the times other problems like gardening also get an airing, whose tomatoes are ripening and whose are not! And lots of ideas of how to rid your garden of slugs are just some of the subjects. Get Harold on to live foods and you have a discussion there forever, Ken on to Angels and again talk for hours, Anne on to discus, Graham on to fish houses, George well he'll always come up with something for you to natter about be it his famous quizzes or a video, and the rest of the gang.

In the past we have gone to other clubs for inter society shows but these days not many of us show fish due to other commitments. Some of us usually try to go to other societies' Open Shows where we enjoy the auction and having a chat with friends. We have also exhibited at the Yorkshire Aquarist Festival held each year at Doncaster Race course. We have won first place twice with our tableaux and second once. This was a very enjoyable experience- tiring but enjoyable.
